The dynamics of modern community demands a fast adaptation of the traditional community center’s activities towards the spiritual and creative needs of the contemporary residents of Varna.
The Community center was built in 1912, and was design by arch. Nikola Lazarov as a residence for the mayor of Varna Mr. A.Vasilev. Bought by the board of the community center in 1942, the building is connected with the history and culture of the city. The great spaces created and the flexible solutions for the interior and exterior of the building define it as a cultural heritage registered with number 434. The state of the facades and the roof demanded emergency repairs by the program “Beautiful Bulgaria” in 2000. The roof construction was renovated; the bay-window was strengthened and the sky-lights stably connected to the load-bearing construction. Project documentation is made for the adaptation of the building to the new program of the community center’s board, which expects financing and realization.
